I had 2 big vacations planned for 2004 and was looking for an affordable entry in the digital camcorder market that would produce decent results. This Panasonic more than filled the bill. Video quality was outstanding and using Pinnacle Studio I was able to easily edit raw material in to some entertaining footage backed by music and other effects. The output really exceeded my expectactions as a relative newcomer to the “movie world”.

At first I loved this mini HDV cam but, after it broke the first time it was the main button. Now the CCD is F-ed up. When I bought this unit I was offered the 5 year Mac cam warrinty. This is saving me the cost of a new one.

I have had my Sony DCR-TRV22 for four years now. I have used it at least monthly and in December weekly. For the last three years I have created DVD’s with Final Cut Pro/Apple to distribute to family. I use the Firewire feature with my apple to log and capture video. I have a JVC SRDVM600 (Pro MiniDV HDD Deck $1200) but I like capturing video via firewire to my computer directly from the TRV22. It has worked perfectly. The only problem I have ever had is when I took the camera on a cruise in high humidity (only when on deck) it gave a beeping error and would not allow me to record. That was it. The camera still works like new. 5 Stars.

Low light condition is not a problem for this TRV22. no to little noise. sound is very clear. zoom resistance is on the money. tons of manual controls. spot focus is just WOW, no other camcorder has this tech. very well built. compact and feels just right. stylist. cool to look at. overall excellent video captures. I have been using panasonic camcorders since the last 6 years. I have found the Panasonic pvgs29 to be very impressive. I wanted an economical camcorder that had a high optical zoom (very important - not digital zoom) and this was the right piece. I often use it for family videos and i am impressed with the video quality that this camcorder produces. It comes with a AV cable that i use to connect to TV and watch…awesome clarity in my 1080i TV. If you are looking for a not so expensive that give great recording quality there is no looking further.

Customer Review: No viewfinder!
I bought this camcorder, but returned it because it doesn’t have a viewfinder! And I found there WERE situations where I felt I really needed the viewfinder (to save battery power or taking video in a darkened room of a program where I didn’t want to disturb people behind me with the glow of the LED screen, etc.), and since this wouldn’t even turn on without opening the LED screen, I decided to return it. On the plus side, I liked how it takes still pictures while you are videoing without interrupting your video! Love that feature…oh well….

The Best Camcorder i have ever had by far. Bluetooth is the coolest thing, and the picture quality is supurb. I would reccomend this to anybody who wants a high quality camera. Yes, you spend a few extra dollars, but in the long run it is worth it.

What a camera indeed. I just got it three days ago and after reading the manual I see there will be a lot of learning ahead for me. There are so many features this camera has I know I will not use most of them. The video is sharp and the photos are better then expected (acceptable but I will still use my digital camera when needed or preferred). The supplied 8 MB memory stick is only worth a tease, you will have to get at least a 128 MB or greater! Being in the Air Force and stationed in Germany this will be one treat to carry along on up coming trips!
